Want to play/sing with Joglaresa?

Qualities and skills Joglaresa seeks in a fiddler (Joglaresa owns FOUR medieval fidels so not having an instrument is no problem - you'll be lent one) Audition requirements: a traditional reel, a traditional jig (preferably Irish). 2 Joglaresa pieces: Pastourelle - an uptempo instrumental (mp3 pdf), Comencerai - an atmospheric, rubato song with solo fidel accompaniment (mp3 pdf), Peperit - a song where the fidel plays an improvised extra voice but is not the sole accompaniment (mp3 pdf). Really 'into' medieval music, or likely to get really 'into' it - it's not a jobsworth, sightreading gig. Folk and classical player Traditional music influences: North African, and Mediterranean in general; folk music of the British Isles. (It may seem surreal but the styles we use the most are Irish and Arabic...) Highly virtuoso show-off, able to dazzle with technical brilliance- the fiddler is the main instrumental soloist and needs to be able to compete with Joglaresa's top show-offs: Belinda and Jeremy Able to read music Able to play on gut strings Able to ornament in traditional styles Improvisation Able to sing choruses London-based. This is a London-based band and there are no extra travel expenses This is an extremely punctual band - all the usual pre-requisites for professional behaviour etc. (don't apply if you're not the punctual type!)

Qualities and skills Joglaresa seeks in a singer Folk singer (we rarely have a need for bel canto, or for the soprano range) Able to read music Able to project without a microphone Able to ornament in traditional styles Improvisation for Arabic singers (maqam) If unable to read music (and preferably sightsing) your folk/language skills must be VERY special Excellent pronunciation/accent (some, if not all, of: French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew) Excellent intonation Traditional music influences: North African, and Mediterranean in general; folk music of the British Isles London-based.
